🇮🇷|IRGC Navy: Three Tankers Since Dawn. The Fires Turned the Eastern Strait Into Daylight.

The statement: “Three oil tankers deviated from authorised routes in the Strait of Hormuz since dawn today before being hit by explosions and engulfed in intense fires. The flames illuminated the eastern part of the strait so brightly that it appeared as though it were daytime.”

The new fact is the tempo. Three in one dawn window is an acceleration, not a plateau.

Dawn in Iran on 3 November fell at roughly 06:15 local time. Three hulls struck and burning before the day was out. The prior rate was slower. The enforcement is not tapering. It is tightening. The market has not priced the route out of existence. The market keeps sending hulls, so the water keeps taking them.

Read the geography. The eastern strait is not Iranian water.

The Strait of Hormuz runs between Iranian territory to the north and the Musandam peninsula of Oman to the south. The inbound lane runs through Omani waters. Lima sits at 26.38°N 56.47°E, on the Omani coast. Khasab at 26.19°N 56.25°E, Bukha at 26.14°N 56.15°E, Dibba at 25.59°N 56.26°E. That is the eastern half.

The IRGC Navy is now enforcing in the eastern approach, in the waters adjacent to the Omani coast and the Omani traffic separation scheme. The mediator’s maritime doorstep is the enforcement zone.

That file is delicate. Oman refused the US request to refuel American warships and a carrier strike group in Omani ports during the Yemen escalation. Muscat hosted the back channel. The Sultan was in Beijing the same week. And now the fires are burning in the water off Musandam, within sight of Omani territory. Tehran is not asking Muscat’s permission. Tehran is using the water and leaving the Sultan to explain it.

The vessels that keep coming are the hulls nobody will insure.

A shipowner does not send a $100 million hull through a declared prohibited area for profit unless the arithmetic works. The arithmetic only works when the hull cannot be insured at any price, because a ship with no cover has no insurer to lose. It has already accepted total loss. The only open question is whether it transits.

That is not shipping. That is gambling with steel and crew. The flag states that permit it are the anonymity layer: Panama, Liberia, the Marshall Islands, Gabon, Cameroon, the Comoros. The classification societies that certified the hulls are another: DNV, Lloyd’s Register, ABS, Bureau Veritas. None of those names will appear in the IRGC statement. All of them sit behind the hulls that burn.

The IRGC order issued days ago stands: keep identification and tracking systems active. A hull that goes dark cannot be warned, cannot be contacted, cannot be identified. Three hulls since dawn did not comply.

The date is the message Washington cannot absorb.

Today is 3 November 2026, the US midterm election. US officials told Arab Gulf governments to prepare for a “short and intense” campaign after the vote. The Pentagon’s calendar assumed Iran would wait out the American political season.

Three tankers burned on election morning. The General Staff, the IRGC, Faraja, and the Foreign Ministry have all stated in the past four days that Iran does not schedule its decisions to Washington’s electoral calendar. Gharibabadi said it in words: Iran will not wait for US elections to adjust its policies. The IRGC Navy said it in fire, on the morning Americans vote.

Every voter filling a ballot today is filling it with the price of Gulf crude in the background. That is the inversion. The war was supposed to be postponed until after the vote. The fires arrived before the polls closed.

Beijing’s crude is in those hulls, and that is the point of the timing.

China imports more than 11 million barrels per day, roughly 70 per cent of consumption. A large share transits Hormuz. The tankers burning in the eastern strait are carrying crude toward Asian refiners, Chinese ones first among them.

The Chinese Special Envoy is booked for Tehran, Muscat and Riyadh in early and mid-November. Bagheri Kani stood beside Wang Yi and endorsed a Chinese-led regional security architecture. Condition six, published by the Chief of Staff, calls for a “Hormuz Mechanism” as the alternative to the American umbrella.

The fires are the argument for that mechanism. Tehran is showing Beijing the cost of the status quo. The strait does not become safe until the architecture is agreed. Every day the envoy’s itinerary slips, the water takes another hull. The burning tankers are the negotiating brief.

The “daylight” claim is verifiable, and that is why it was made.

Thermal anomaly detection is open source. NASA FIRMS runs MODIS and VIIRS fire detection at 1-kilometre resolution, twice daily. Sentinel-3 SLSTR adds a night-time thermal channel. Three large crude fires at the mouth of the strait produce thermal signatures that open-source analysts will find within hours.

The IRGC is not asking to be believed. It is inviting verification. A propaganda office does not describe a fire in terms that satellites can confirm the same day. It describes an event in terms that cannot be checked. The “as though it were daytime” line is a claim designed to survive the thermal data.

What is confirmed, and what is not.

Confirmed: the IRGC Navy announced three tankers deviated from authorised routes since dawn on 3 November 2026 and were struck by explosions and fire. The IRGC described the flames lighting the eastern strait.

Not released: vessel names, flags, registered owners, cargoes, destinations, exact coordinates, and casualty figures. No independent confirmation of the individual strikes has been published yet.

The contradiction the American guarantee cannot survive.

The United States has maintained a naval presence in the Gulf for seventy years on one claim: it guarantees freedom of navigation and the flow of energy. The Fifth Fleet is headquartered at 26.21°N 50.61°E in Bahrain. Carrier groups rotate through the Arabian Sea. The US Navy is in the water.

Three tankers burned in the eastern strait since dawn. The flames were bright enough for the IRGC to describe them as daylight. No convoy was escorted. No hull was protected. The American guarantee did not produce a single saved ship.

Condition six exists because the guarantee failed. The Hormuz Mechanism is being drafted because the umbrella did not keep the water open. The fires are the demonstration. The replacement is being written in Beijing while the eastern strait burns.
